Duplicate tab shortcut key11/30/2023 ![]() You can right-click on the tab you want to copy and select “Copy” from the drop-down menu.Ģ. There are a few different ways to copy tabs in Excel:ġ. To duplicate a tab, press Alt+Shift+D (Option+Shift+D on Mac). You can also use the shortcut keys Ctrl+Shift+K to perform the same function. Right-click on the tab you wish to duplicate and select Duplicate Tab. To duplicate a tab in Windows, you can use the Duplicate Tab function in Microsoft Edge. This will open up the current URL into a new tab, basically duplicating the tab. Now simply hit the Enter key (since you've got the Alt key held down). This will move the focus to the location bar and keep the Alt key held down. The easiest way to duplicate a tab in Chrome is to use the Alt+D shortcut key sequence. This will instantly duplicate the curretly active tab, making it easy to create multiple copies of the same web page. To use this shortcut, simply press Command + D on your keyboard. This shortcut is perfect for those who frequently find themselves needing to duplicate tabs in their web browser. Source: Gerrit and Chromium Bug Repository. We wanted to let you know about the shortcut for Duplicate Tab. Which keyboard shortcut would you prefer? Let us know in the comments section. Will it be CTRL + K or CTRL + SHIFT + K? Bookmark this page and come back soon to find out. ![]() It might take a few weeks to get this clarified. This will be an additional point for the Chromium team to consider. Now that Edge is based on Chromium, Microsoft would want use the same keyboard shortcut that their users are familiar with. It is not clear if Chrome will retain CTRL + K for focusing on the omnibox and use CTRL + SHIFT + K for duplicating tabs or the other way around. The code commit that we spotted today speaks about “Add duplicate tab accelerator for Windows Ctrl+Shift+K”. If you are someone who uses CTRL + K to quickly start searching or browsing, you wouldn’t want Chrome duplicating your tabs after a new update, right? I don’t think we should add a brand new shortcut for this given the middle-click-reload route exists.”Īs the developer explains, there is a cost to changing an existing keyboard shortcut. Status quo is the easiest route, but given the Edge behavior my second choice would be to match them. There’s a cost to changing long-standing shortcuts, and a cost to adding new shortcuts (which we don’t have very many left available). One of the comments from a Chromium developer says: ![]() The team is still discussing how this should be handled. ![]() A recent code change that we spotted points towards Google’s plan to add a new keyboard shortcut. Google Chrome currently does not have a keyboard shortcut to replicate an existing tab. You can enter a search term or a web address to navigate. If you press CTRL + K, now, Chrome will move the cursor to the address bar, ready to take your input. However, Firefox and Chrome use CTRL + K to focus on the address bar aka Omnibox. The feature request bug submitted by a user explains that Internet Explorer and Edge both have a keyboard shortcut to copy an existing tab. Smart, isn’t it? Chrome to get an easier method.ĬTRL + SHIFT + K does not work in Chrome yet. ![]() Step 2 – While the URL is selected in the address bar, press ALT + ENTER. You can use a combination of two keyboard shortcuts to duplicate a Chrome tab. What if you want to do this using a keyboard shortcut? There is a hack for that. To duplicate a tab, you can right-click the tab and choose Duplicate. This keyboard shortcut duplicates the current tab in Edge. Microsoft Edge (Chromium) has a keyboard shortcut to duplicate tabs. CTRL + SHIFT + K on Edge to Duplicate TabĬTRL + SHIFT + K on Edge to Duplicate Tab. ![]()

David lee roth skyscraper personnel11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() “Maybe the class clown is just outclassed on record by his band,” Rolling Stone sneeredof Roth’s performance on the record. Overshadowed by its predecessor it might be, but listened to without prejudice today, Skyscraper is an absolute blast. A diplomatic Vai says today: “It was really fulfilling to be in Dave Roth’s band all those years. Inevitably, it all went tits-up, with Vai and Sheehan moving on. It was rock’s greatest vaudevillian sparring with the rake-thin cat that played the Devil’s guitarist in the ’86 film Crossroads. When this writer caught DLR and Vai on the ’88 Skyscraper tour it seemed like they were having more fun than any one band had a right to. What I’m used to doing is working on stuff and getting it down, and I was able to do that more on Skyscraper… and I was able to do a lot more production things like doubling guitars, harmonies, and making sure if I was on a doubled rhythm part that it was really tight because I had the time to do that.” “An artist is always looking to raise their own bar. “Well it wasn’t a conscious effort,” he responds. It’s like he’s trying to outplay his achievements on Eat ’Em & Smile. From the delay-fuelled intro of Just Like Paradise to the seasick delivery of the solo on Stand Up, the kid who made his bones with Frank Zappa, post-Malmsteen Alcatrazz and the very special Album with PiL played his nuts off. Of course, the album features some outstanding playing from Vai. All I ever really needed to know, I learned from David Lee Roth.In Praise of David Lee Roth – by Greg Puciato. It’s got the guitar delay thing that goes left and right, and the way I play off of the delay is unique.” But I think Hina is probably my favourite. “I like the chord changes and the energy. “That’s a really cool song,” he says of the latter. While the album included the hit single Just Like Paradise, it’s songs like Hina, the Stairway-esque acoustic classic Damn Good and the title track that Vai is most proud of. I expect that from other people when they’re working with me. I’m very good at assuming a role and knowing where my boundaries are. “You have to remember it was his band,” Vai continues. If it’s a good idea, he’s happy to go with it. I mean, you don’t argue with Dave, but if you have a perspective or an opinion, he’s interested in hearing it. He doesn’t feel he needs to come to the table with everything, so he surrounds himself with good people. But as a partner in the creative process, he listens and doesn’t assume to know everything. People have this image of Roth as being this rock star with a crazy kind of personality, and he is that. Working in the tight confines of a recording studio with someone packing an ego the size of David Lee Roth’s might sound hellish, but that’s not how Vai recalls the experience. That’s the artist’s creative prerogative.” But by the same token, you get a guy like Dave Roth, and he’s done so much in one way and, he wanted to try something different. It’s not as visceral as Eat ’Em & Smile I’m fully aware of the difference in those records. So the record has a different sound, a different feel. My production skills, and Dave’s, and the approach that he wanted to take, were just very different from Ted. “It was an intense process mixing the record. ![]() “We liked the way it was coming out,” says the guitarist. ![]()

Export list of files ina folder mac terminal11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Then you blithely suggest that i should restore from the backup that i ran prior to attempting this. the logical consequence of not catching this is to catastrophically move files - with potentially no option to UNDO - or tellingly at least no advice to make sure to run an Undo if it screws up for some reason.įor instance, my Finder Find interface right now shows This Mac, All My Files, and Shared. Where to start? stop and think about this for a minute.įirst off, you gave me advice to use finder to move all files from a folder - whereas the other poster suggested i use terminal commands - and the very real result of this suggestion for /anyone/ including expert users is to not catch and/or not see and/or not understand what is being searched in what by any stretch of the imagination is a visually un-intuitive Finder interface for the Search Function. I just went back to look to check the folder that i moved everything to just in case and i am actually thinking that i have made a big mistake while time machine is off. or god forbid all my documents from THIS MAC or something? i mean, there does not appear to be any way to determine that i am actually searching this one folder that i opened that is on my desktop /except/ by assuming that it was the window that was in fact open when i ran CMD + F.Īm i missing something here or do you know what i mean? i mean, if i happened to accidentally click on another open finder window before running CMD + F there would be no way for me to know that i was about to move a bajillion files from the wrong folder. There is something really sort of confusing about this (i am on ML at the moment) in that the FINDER window that gets opened up just says "searching This Mac" at the top and then it shows "Search: This Mac | All My Files" in the top just under the title of the window. if you want to recursively list the entire contents use ls -R > ~/Desktop/listing.Oh gosh, i think i just made a big mistake here. ![]() This is going to produce the contents only for that folder, not it's subfolders. Optional: Open listing.txt on your Desktop and confirm the contents match the directory.listing.txt will get created on your Desktop. ![]() Inside the terminal window type ls > ~/Desktop/listing.txt (making sure that listing.txt isn't the name of a file that already exists on your desktop) then hit enter.Drag the directory you want a listing of into the terminal window, then hit the enter key inside the terminal window. It should contain the directory you want a listing of) Open the parent window of the directory you want a listing of in finder (One folder / directory up from the one you want a listing of.Inside the terminal window, type cd then a space.Open Terminal.app from the utilities folder.Did not work.Īt the end of the day I ended up purchasing a paid app, but since I use several different user accounts across several machines, I would love to know if there is an easier and free way that I can use in the future. Terminal: Some courageous experts have shared how to do it with Terminal, but I'm not super comfortable with it, and most importantly, the Volume I tried to execute the command on didn't load ( "No such file or directory") - maybe because there are spaces in my Volume names? ( this tip did not work when trying to add a Volume name with spaces in a Terminal prompt to output file names.). TextWrangler: The output is ok, but I feel like I would like to have more options regarding how many levels deep the exported file list is, otherwise I end up with 33k lines of text. I could present the folder in List format in the Finder window, but then I would have to manually open all the folders one by one before copying/pasting. TextEdit: If I select all the folders on the volume, for example when the Finder window is presenting them in a column, then Copy then Paste into a Plain Text document, only the names of the folders will be copied, not the contents. Things I have tried so far that didn't work: I would like to export a list of files contained in a Volume into legible text, or a spreadsheet document that I can easily share. ![]()

Archicad tutorial11/30/2023 ![]() dwg file, so I’m going to go look here, and I have my site survey, and it’s a. I’ll say Place External Drawing, and it allows me to choose a. Now, if you’re in the start edition, you won’t have that option, so you might have to do things like merging the drawing in, and I won’t deal with that in this lesson, but just follow along with the general principles because you can still do similar sorts of things. So, I’ll go to the File menu, External Content, Place External Drawing. I’ll just say OK, and now I’m ready to actually bring in the. If you’re working in metric, 1 to 100 will work just fine, and of course, when you’re working with very large projects, then you might have much smaller scales – 1 to 200 or 1/16” per foot or even smaller. Now, I’m going to change the scale from ¼”, which is 1 to 48 to an 1/8” because I figured the survey will fit nicely on my layout sheet at that scale. I’ll just leave that alone, but I’ll change the name here to Survey. So, if you’re in ARCHICAD 10 or possibly 11, then you would usually create a new detailed drawing to place this or possibly place it on a story below the main one so you can create additional stories in your project, but I’m going to go ahead and create a new, independent worksheet, which is without an ID. Now, if you’re in ARCHICAD 10 – I can’t remember when worksheets were introduced. So, to bring in this survey, a great way to do it starting in ARCHICAD 11 would be to create a worksheet with the survey. version, and then we’ll repeat with the metric. Now, if you’re working with the international metric version, then you will also have a site option, but you’ll need to change the layer combination to show the walls in order to coordinate the survey, and I will repeat the exercise that I’m about to do with bringing in the survey, again, with the metric version. ![]() I’ll go to the Quick Options, which is this little button in the bottom left, third from the left in the Navigation area, and I’ll switch the layer combination from floor plan to site plan, and that actually changes what is seen because layers determine which things are visible and which are not, and now we’re seeing just the walls – the exterior walls and the roofs, and it turns off the interior of the building. So, I’ll activate the floor plan here and then switch some of the settings. ![]() Now, I like to create a site plan to work on the train model. ![]() These are some variations along with structural plans, etc., that are different versions of what we’re looking at. Space shuttle challenger bodies autopsy11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() See how the Columbia shuttle accident occurred in this infographic. 1, 2003, in a tragic disaster that killed the shuttle's seven-astronaut crew. NASA's space shuttle Columbia was destroyed during re-entry on Feb. "This is indeed a tragic day for the NASA family, for the families of the astronauts who flew on STS-107, and likewise is tragic for the nation," stated NASA's administrator at the time, Sean O'Keefe. Later that day, NASA declared the astronauts lost. Shortly afterward, NASA declared a space shuttle 'contingency' and sent search and rescue teams to the suspected debris sites in Texas and later, Louisiana. The caller said a television network was showing a video of the shuttle breaking up in the sky. Twelve minutes later, when Columbia should have been making its final approach to the runway, a mission controller received a phone call. Mission Control made several attempts to get in touch with the astronauts, with no success. At 8:59:32 a.m., Husband called back from Columbia: "Roger," followed by a word that was cut off in mid-sentence.Īt that point, Columbia was near Dallas, traveling 18 times the speed of sound and still 200,700 feet (61,170 meters) above the ground. Mac studio chip outperforms fluid dynamics11/30/2023 ![]() iPhone SE: This handset is now well over a year old, and while it could be 2024 before we see an update released, it's worth bearing in mind that the current model was released in March 2022.Released in March 2022, this isn't as old as the Mini - but it's still over that 12-month mark, making it a dubious buy for the price. Popclip for windows11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() For example, when you select a string of words, the popup menu will show actions that you’d perform on words (e.g., search in Google, cut/copy, word count). This means that they are triggered when it makes sense for them to be available. Extensions are quick and easy to install/uninstall and they’re smart. Users and developers have created useful PopClip add-ons to popular third-party apps like Evernote, OmniFocus, and Skype, and it seems that a few new ones appear every month. In addition to the default set, there are currently over 100 extensions available, putting the actions you need-from image search to unit conversion-at your fingertips. It is the extra actions available through the PopClip extension library that make PopClip much more powerful and, for this user, essential. While the ability perform the actions shown in the screenshots above is nice, it frankly wouldn’t make it a must-have utility for most users. And importantly, PopClip is so well integrated and feels so native that you’d swear it was part of the operating system. Since I spend much of my time at the computer dealing with text (writing, editing, copying, pasting, formatting, searching for terms, etc.), any piece of software that can reduce friction as I manipulate text is a plus. Unlike some of Apple’s own iOS-ification which seems more cosmetic than truly useful, PopClip scratches a productivity itch right where I need it-with text handling. Nevertheless, the consensus seems to be that some degree of OS convergence is inevitable. And some features were removed: the iWork productivity suite ( Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) was overhauled “to support a unified file format between OS X and iOS 7 versions” but the removal of key features made quite a few users unhappy. Some features were added: the five-finger pinch gesture on the trackpad of a MacBook Pro brings up the iOS-style view of the applications via Launchpad, and since OS X 10.7, “natural scrolling” has been the default way to scroll. He can be reached through the center’s website: a longtime Mac user who does not own an iOS device, I have been somewhat reluctant to embrace the steady “iOS-ification” of the Mac-you know, the aesthetic and functional bits that were introduced to OS X that borrowed from iOS (iPhone, iPad). The app shows a summary of the sessions completed over the last 30 days.ĭouble-click on any row to set that as the active tag for the current session, or type a new tag in the text box.[ This is a guest post by Jim Cracraft, a Language Teaching Specialist and technology coordinator at Vanderbilt University‘s English Language Center (ELC), which offers English language support to individuals who have a first language other than English. In LightSpeech, use tags to identify your reading sessions. With clear metrics, you may feel motivated to push yourself. For a serial reader, you want both to be high: read for longer durations and read faster. Each session is characterized by the duration and the average words per minute (WPM). You can see your progress in terms of sessions of work completed. After all, you don’t want the voice to mispronounce the same words over and over again through the whole book! That would be incredibly frustrating. PopClip pops up when you select text with your mouse, giving you a customizable row of helpful action buttons. You can specify pronunciations, which is crucial for technical content.LightSpeech builds on text-to-speech features built into macOS in two key ways: TTS is very effective for tough & dense content. It doesnt run on Windows, and (annoyingly) there is no web or Android version. And TTS steadily churns through the material. When you use TTS, both your eyes and ears are engaged in understanding the text. Text-to-speech (TTS) is more effective than reading silently too. It reduces the strain of reading, especially for the tough or boring content. ![]() That’s what text-to-speech technology can do for you. What if you could read several books a month? Imagine if you had a way to read any article, any book - even cover-to-cover if you wish - without getting exhausted. ![]()

Faa drone complaints11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() But in other instances it has fined people for flying a drone without "an operable coded radar beacon transponder," and "automatic altitude reporting equipment." These are instruments almost no drones have, and the regulations being used are for manned aircraft. The standard violations the FAA cites are ones that prohibit people from operating an aircraft "in a careless or reckless manner," or in certain types of airspace. The FAA has one go-to violation it cites when fining drone pilots, but the agency is willing to pull out additional regulations or violations if it wants to throw the book at a person or company. "There's drones being used all over the country, so why such a focus on New York, Washington, and Boston?" she said. "Some inspectors call it an aircraft, some places it's an unmanned system." The allegations, even though they're coordinated through headquarters, are all over the place," Loretta Alkalay, who was head of the FAA's Eastern Regional legal office for 20 years and is now a drone law professor, told me. "The penalties are disturbingly all over the place. This means that almost all of the FAA's drone fines have come in east coast cities, with a couple of isolated fines in Texas, Alabama, and Puerto Rico. ![]() Those fines make at least some amount of sense-more puzzlingly, the FAA has fined people for flights that have ended in no incident whatsoever, and once fined two people who crashed their drones into each other over the ocean in Puerto Rico.Īlmost all of the fines have come from the FAA's eastern region office, which appears to have taken a hardline stance against drones. The FAA has issued fines to people who have flown drones into public buildings, over sports stadiums, and in Washington DC's restricted flight area. "They propose a scare-you-to-death fine, you talk to them, and then they give you a slap-on-the-wrist fine and go on their way," Peter Sachs, a Connecticut-based drone attorney told me. "There's drones being used all over the country, so why such a focus on New York, Washington, and Boston?" All of these documents are embedded at the bottom of this post. Commercial operators have been fined as much as $1.9 million. More commonly, the FAA fines people between $1,100 and $2,200 and, if it receives pushback, offers to settle for much less. The documents the FAA sent me show that the fine for flying a drone recklessly vary wildly: Some hobbyists have settled with the FAA for as little as $400, while others, such as the man who crashed his drone on the White House lawn, have paid as much as $5,500. ![]() |
